Candidates on both the writers and veterans ballots need at least 75% of the vote to gain induction. The writers ballot is the shortest in history (23 players), and was mailed to more than 575 writers. The writers inductees will be named January 12th. A panel of 64 living Hall of Famers will vote in the veterans ballot with the inductees announced on December 8th.

Awarded annually for excellence in baseball broadcasting since 1978, a 20-member committee of former Frick recipients and historians vote based on certain criteria: longevity; continuity with a club; honors, including national assignments such as the World Series and All-Star Games; and popularity with fans. The winner will be announced December 9th.
